With the increasing demand for workforce, opportunities for employment are critical to service companies such as ITBPO. As of January 2019, the Philippine Statistic Authority (PSA) reported employment status across the country. National Capital Region (93.6%), Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao (93.7%) and CALABARZON (93.9%) had the lowest employment rates while Cagayan Valley and Western Visayas had the highest employment rate at 96.9 percent and 96.1 percent respectively.
The number of people employed in the ITBPO sector is estimated to be 1.15 million Full-Time Equivalents (FTEs) in 2016, accounting for 2.9% of Philippine employment. By 2022, a total FTEs in the ITBPO sector is expected to reach 1.8 million or around 4.1% of the country’s total employment as shown in Figure 4. The number of new jobs created yearly is also projected to continuously grow as shown in Figure 5. There is a slowdown expected by year 2022 as the industry leads to maturity but still having substantial increase in new jobs by 110,470.
Companies need to strategically plan sourcing of manpower in locations with a high number of graduates and low employment to improve the selection of talents.

Low employment rate in NCR is an opportunityfor as this means there will be available professionals for hiring, especially for customer support services where the skill requirement is low and is limited to English speaking capability. Low employment rate in CALABARZON which is geographically located near NCR is considered an opportunity. This gives companies the flexibility to extend hiring to nearby cities and provinces and potentially creating an extension office.
ITBPO companies are significantly increasing their workforce throughout the country, with an estimated quarter of a million jobs created in locations outside NCR as of end of 2015. This is based on feedback from ICT Councils in Centers of Excellence and Next Wave Cities and available Philippine Economic Zone Authority (PEZA)-accredited building capacity data.
